Proposed Health Centre Petition

Proposed Health Centre Petition

As you may be aware the GNCA has issues with the ‘Health Centre’ the government proposes to build in Throsby Park behind the Griffith Shops.  The GNCA has organised a petition to the ACT Legislative Assembly against this development.

Below is the link to the e-Petition opposing the location, size, and very limited services to be offered to inner south residents by the Health Facility to be situated in Throsby Park, Griffith.

 The petition requests the Assembly to call on the ACT Government to:

  1.  Reconsider the location of the proposed Health Centre in order to protect the character, established trees and amenity of the open space and recreational parkland behind the Griffith shops, and instead utilise currently zoned community facility land in either Manuka or Kingston Group Centres, or in Eastlake or its vicinity;
  2. Provide a full range of Walk-In services;
  3. Consider inner south residents’ future needs; undertake genuine, open consultation with residents (including a town hall meeting) on the Health Centre’s location, design and service model;  and
  4. Reverse the decision to declare the Health Centre a Territory Priority Project.

Our aim is to collect over 500 signatures and have our petition referred to the relevant Ministers, in this case, the Ministers for Health and Planning.  We would appreciate you forwarding this link to the e-petition (https://epetitions.parliament.act.gov.au/details/e-pet-029-26) to friends and acquaintances who are residents of the inner south.

Once we have received 500 or more signatures, this petition will also be referred to an appropriate Assembly committee where we hope to obtain a better outcome for all inner south residents.
